Garden Master 3 Video Game

Well, it's actually an ad for GameStop insinuating that gardening is quite boring. I WAS INSULTED. I get insulted a lot, that's my own blessing, but I choose this to be especially insulted about today.

And why not check out the Sims 2 expansion pack, Mansion and Garden Stuff, where you can create wondrous gardens and improve the interior decor of your house. Now THAT sounds boring.

Hi Benjamin, okay that is insulting, but the crow was kind of funny. I don't care for the landscape type software either. The Financier bought me that years ago, I never ever even looked at it, hope he got the hint. Last year he did buy the laptop though, a gift that keeps on giving! And yes, it is okay to have two cameras, the one for players with exchangable lenses that you will never be satisfied with, and the little pocket sized one. One commenter said their dad had the hankering for a $6000 lens. He must have quite a nice garden to want to take that kind of photo. :-)

What's funny is that many of the massively multi-player "action/role playing" games on-line have just as much boring repetitive chores. So many players complain at having to 'farm' while playing.

I never got into these games, but my friends really like them. I always thought it would be kind of cool to have an "environmentalist" game, where you could plant and manage an ecosystem and see if it dies off or not. (I'm feeling insulted too, BTW. :)

I want that upgrade with the gourd and tuber expansion pack! Love his jazzy kneepads. I wonder what kind of rake that is? Also, what is he planting? He is having good luck with those plants which are popping up all over the place. Is gardening that easy? Happy Thanksgiving Benjamin and lovely wife!

Frances--Yeah, I liked the crow, too. And since they started beating the blue jays to the peanuts, I kinda like them much less than I used to.
WA--That's so true! My sister(s) can get so engrossed in those games, and I'm bored stiff after 30 minutes. "Where are you going, we just start playing?" "Uh, outside." "What's out there?"
Layanee--Happy Tofu day to you too! (he is planting magic internet beans)

You're idiots. Being insulted about a faux game portraying the most boring scene in gardening I've ever seen is ridiculous. Would YOU buy that game? Maybe you find joy in doing that sort of thing in real life, but video games are about escaping from reality. So why be insulted about a game that would possibly make a satisfying reality for *some* and a horrible game for all? And by the way, yes, there are many tedious chores in MMORPGs, but those chores offer rewards. Much better than a turnip.

Anon--IF you were a reader of this blog, you'd know that I am commonly quite sarcastic. I was not insulted. BTW, if we would stop escaping reality we wouldn't be destroying this planet, killing off cures for diseases, and most likely in addition not be murdering and raping one another--it comes from the same root, and part of that is the escapism (the idea of the sublime, for one) that has been imbedded in western culture. I for one choose to garden, where I escape into the joy and peace and connection to the reality which is my essential spiritual and physical place on this planet.

Alright, I apologize for assuming. However, I think you're wrong. I believe ignorance is the root of all evil. We destroy that which we do not understand. As far as killing the planet, that comes from greed, avarice, ignorance, and other such sin. Escapism has nothing to do with destruction in the real world in the exception of a few truly sick individuals in which their escape from reality truly is the murder and rape you speak of. But no I do not believe it is the root of evil. However, that is open to perception, as are many other debatable topics.

Anon--It's not a few, it's all of us. In the smallest acts of goodness and not, are the largest acts of both. Holding a door, biting your tongue, offering to carry groceries, swearing at someone who cuts you off, taking a pen that isn't yours, undermining your sister's confidence. I'm not saying I'm not implicit in the above "bad" stuff, but I firmly believe that the smallest things gather and congeal to some much greater good--call it grassroots organization, call it the recent political hope we see in the U.S. (gorunded in truth or not), or call it the random collection of minerals and water and atoms that formed this planet. In the smallest things are the stamp, the blueprint of the largest. That's my take, anyway.

I saw that commercial today, and though it would be a cool game. I searched Google for it, and your blog was the second link there. How awesome is that.
This is your cousin btw. I doubt it would be as exciting otherwise.

Wanker--I'm getting tons of hits for that commerical, which is a spoof, isn't it? And I have many cousins, I can think of at least 10 off the top of my head, but it's either R or A I'd guess because this "game" does NOT look cool....

This is indeed Mr.R. For the record that game looks totally cool, and I would so play it. Although I am one of those MMO players.
